This is such a tough topic! On one hand the child is not fully developed on a mental level and therefore may not understand his or her actions. On the other hand to let young people who have committed terrible crimes escape their true deserved justice simply because of a technicality is a slap in the face to any victim of the adolescent’s cruelty.

At this time I don’t know if it is more cruel to punish a child so severely that they will die in prison. Or if it is more cruel to let a murderer of any age get away from justice.

NOTE: This entire comment is left from an American court system point of view and not from a Christian point of view, when asked for the Christian point of view the answer would obviously be more merciful and my own heart desires mercy, but the issue is not my own world view, but the stance taken b the constitution.
